Tactiq — An AI note-taker that transcribes Google Meet and Zoom in real time without adding a bot to the call

Tactiq is an AI note-taker that transcribes online meetings as they happen and then turns them into summaries and action items. It has been offered since 2020 by the Australian company of the same name. It works with Google Meet, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams, and records in more than 60 languages while distinguishing between speakers. Its defining trait is that it does not invite a “recording bot” into the meeting. It runs as a browser extension on your own side, so no unfamiliar account shows up in the participant list, and no audio is stored — only text. Tactiq holds SOC 2 Type II attestation and ISO 27001 certification, so it is designed with business use in mind.

Key Features

  • Real-time transcription with speaker identification: Speech is turned into text as the meeting goes on, with each speaker distinguished. More than 60 languages are supported, so Japanese meetings work as they are
  • No bot joins the call: Instead of adding a recording participant, the browser extension handles everything on your own screen. Audio itself is not stored; the record is kept as text
  • One-click AI summaries and action items: After a meeting, Tactiq generates a summary of the main points, decisions, and to-dos. It can also draft a follow-up email
  • Custom AI prompts and Q&A on meetings: You can ask questions such as “what concerns did the customer raise?” against the transcript. Frequently used questions can be saved as prompts and reused for every meeting
  • AI workflows that push content to other tools: Summaries and tasks can flow automatically into Slack, Notion, HubSpot, Linear, and more, removing the need to copy meeting content by hand
  • MCP connection and Claude connector (beta): On higher tiers, an AI assistant can reference past meeting records directly through the Model Context Protocol

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • No unfamiliar bot joins the call, which makes it easy to adopt even for meetings with people outside your company
  • Audio is not stored and only text is kept, and with SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 in place, the security story is easy to explain internally
  • Support for more than 60 languages makes it practical even for meetings that mix Japanese and English
  • Summaries and action items can flow automatically into Slack, Notion, and similar tools, all but eliminating manual note transcription
  • The free plan allows 10 transcripts a month, which is enough to properly evaluate it

⚠️ Cons

  • The real limit is AI credits. Even the Pro plan includes only 10 per month, so heavy use of summaries effectively requires Team or above
  • Because it relies on a browser extension, it is hard to use in desktop app meetings or unsupported browsers
  • Since neither audio nor video is retained, it does not suit cases where you want to rewatch a recording later
  • MCP and the Claude connector require the Business plan and are still in beta, so they are not features everyone can use right away

Who Is It For

  • People who run many external sales calls or interviews and would rather not bring a recording bot into the room
  • Teams that lose time writing and sharing minutes every week and want summaries and task extraction automated
  • Anyone who wants a single tool to capture meetings that mix Japanese and English
  • People who use Slack, Notion, or HubSpot daily and want meeting content to land there directly
  • Organizations that are cautious about audio data being held outside the company and prefer a text-only record

Summary

Tactiq is an AI note-taker built on the idea of adding nothing to the meeting while still producing the notes. Not joining as a bot and not keeping audio lowers the barrier to using it in meetings that include outside participants. The free plan lets you try 10 transcripts a month, so start by checking transcription accuracy and summary quality on your own calls, and consider Team or above — with unlimited AI credits — once summaries become part of your daily routine.
